Dental Crown & BridgesCrowns and Bridges are used to cover teeth in order to rebuild broken and/or decaying teeth or to straighten them. In addition to oral health issues, they also improve the appearance of your teeth. Dental crowns, usually made of dental porcelain or a metal alloy like gold, are cemented to the remaining part of your tooth, above your gum line, to fill in any missing part of the tooth. Unlike a filling which is basically made inside your mouth, crowns are manufactured outside of your mouth by a dental lab. Crowns are also different because they cover the whole tooth, not just replace the broken part like a filling does. How we make your Crown:
Dental bridges are used to replace completely lost teeth. It is important to replace the tooth as soon as possible, so the remaining teeth don't drift out of place. Crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the missing tooth, with the missing tooth attached to those crowns and are all cemented as one complete unit. If properly maintained, crowns and bridges can last over 10 years. You can make them last by following our homecare instructions (which include thorough brushing and flossing), and returning to our office for regular hygiene appointments, ideally every 6 months. Set up a consultation with Dr. Sherri Wise or Dr. George Bonev.
